Outsourcing of Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) Service for Indian Nationals to VFS Global

With effect from May 17, 2021, the Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) service for Indian Nationals will be outsourced to the outsourcing partner VFS Global.

Process: Applicants may apply according to their Consular Jurisdiction. Only those living in Bermuda, Delaware, District of Columbia, Kentucky, Maryland, North Carolina, Virginia, and West Virginia seeking PCC may apply in Washington DC.

They may create a Login ID choosing Washington DC as the Mission and then fill out the online PCC application. While filling up the application, applicants may write their Indian Address and the name of the concerned Police Station, enabling the police authorities to verify their antecedents. After filling the online application, applicants may take a printout and complete the set by enclosing the supporting documents listed below.

  1. Notarized copy of passport.
  2. Valid US Visa status.
  3. Proof of address:US Driving License, Utility Bill, Lease Agreement, State Identity Card or Mortgage Deed.
  4. One-Color passport-size photograph, to be pasted and to sign below in the respective spaces.

PCC, as per the current government of India guidelines, would be issued only after clearance from the relevant Police authority in India.

Fees:

**Fee for applicant holding passport issued by Embassy of India Washington DC: $25 as fee and $2 as contribution towards Indian Community Welfare Fund + Outsourcing charges of $15.90, besides shipping charges and online payment charges (as applicable).

**Fee for applicant holding passport issued by RPO or other Indian Embassy/ High Commission/Consulate: $40 as fee and $2 as contribution towards Indian Community Welfare Fund + Outsourcing charges of $15.90, besides shipping charges and online payment charges (as applicable).

Only the resident of US states of Bermuda, Delaware, District of Columbia, Kentucky, Maryland, North Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia may apply in Washington DC. Applicants have to apply at https://portal4.passportindia.gov.in/Online/index.html , they may create a Log in ID choosing Washington DC as the Mission and then fill out the online PCC application. While filling up the application, applicants may write their Indian Address and the name of the concerned Police Station, enabling the police authorities to verify their antecedents. After filling the online application, applicants may take a printout and complete the set enclosing the supporting documents listed below. Applicants who wish to make the application in person may bring it to the Embassy at the address given below while those who wish to send it by mail may do so to the same address.

  1. Notarized copy of passport.

  4. One color passport size photograph, to be pasted and to sign below in the respective spaces.
  5. Prepaid Express return envelope with a tracking number, which applicants may note for tracking return mails.
  6. Fee and Contribution ** to be drawn as separate TWO Money Orders/Cashiers’ Cheque in favor of Embassy of India, Washington DC

** Fee for applicants holding passports issued by Embassy of India Washington DC: $25 as fee and $2 as contribution towards Indian Community welfare Fund

** Fee for applicants holding passports issued in RPOs and other Indian Embassy/ High Commission/Consulates: $40 as fee and $2 as contribution towards Indian Community welfare Fund

PCCs, as per the current government of India guidelines, would be issued only after clearances from the respective Police authorities in India. Therefore, applicants may please note that there could be delay, which is beyond Embassy’s control, for issuance of PCC.
